Schools out for the Summer.....

I can hardly believe that this year is done!!! I hope many of you are celebrating or should I say relaxing like I am. (Do teachers even relax?!) I know my mind is already thinking about next year. How will I decorate my room, What will I do different, What things can I make this summer, What will I get out of my professional developments, and what new books to read?

I am REALLY wanting to do another book study this summer. I will let you know within the next week what book study I have joined or if I plan on hosting my own. Yippeeee!!! Last year I LOVED the Daily 5 book study.

In the meantime, my family is heading to the beach this week for a little relaxation. I am soooo excited!!!! This is where we will be staying :)

What are your plans? How are you going to relax and what are your thoughts on a book study?

Mothers Day

This has been a CRAZY week for me. My little one had been sick most of the week with some sinus stuff, so I played doctor mommy and had to get a sub.
If you are anything like me- I hate being gone. I had so many cute things planned for yesterday and felt a sub may go crazy trying to do any of those Mother's Day crafts.

So, Super teacher mode kicked in today and we made a TON of things for mom. All I heard was... "I love you," "you are the best teacher," and "this is so much fun." I am glad they loved it, but I am EXHAUSTED!!! (ok and a little giddy that they really enjoyed school today)

Aren't these the cutest little flowers you have ever seen?

We planted flowers and I put a ziplock bag over them to keep the soil from spilling all over...
you know, just incase they happen to drop them ;)

So cute I love how they turned out. Thank you pinterest!!!

We also made stained glass pictures, but of course I forgot to take pictures. Here's what I did. Take any color page and color the whole thing with markers (no black or brown). Then put newspaper in a box and the color page on top. Paint vegtable oil all over the picture covering it completely. Then put newspaper on top. Now its ready for the next person to do the same. Put their picture on top, paint, add newspaper and so on. The newspaper will absorb the oil and it will look transparent when it dries.

I also interviewed my kiddos about their moms and attached it to the backside of the hand flowers before laminating them. Here is the cute page I used.

I only have 9 days of school left, but who's counting... I hope to relax a little this Mothers Day weekend before our big field trip to the Nashville Childrens Theater to see Go, Dog, Go!!! I cant wait.

In the meantime, Happy Mothers Day to you all!!!

Kindergarten Math Review Freebie

We are taking our SAT 10 this week and OMG!!!! Bless their hearts, that is just crazy to sit for 35-45 minutes at a time for 5 and 6 year olds!!! There, I said it and now on to the good stuff :)

I needed some sort of math review and made a quick card game. It can be used with any game board. Draw a card if they get it correct, flip it over to see how many spaces they can move. YES, just like Frog Games... if any of you have not heard of them, my kiddos LOVE them!!

I have made two versions depending on how your printer will print front/back. Mines old school and I need to feed the paper back through :) So click above or below for two different versions.

A Little Bit of Everything...

We have been working so hard to prepare our kids for our first standardized test (yes, in Kindergarten- I know WAY CRAZY) and I was beyond overwhelmed, exhausted, and frustrated... We needed a FUN FRIDAY! They have worked so hard and I know they will do great!

So here's a little of what went on for our FUN FRIDAY:

They had to write nonsense words that I had said and then some CVC and sight words.
Before they could have free draw, they had to write me a sentence... I'm a little partical to this one :)

Just being kids!!!

We started off with a little shaving cream...

but as you see, it became very messy!

We did a little math this week using Greg Smedley's glitter phones. SO CUTE!!!! I'm sure you all have bought many of his products... My kiddos love everything he does!

I decided they needed a little bit of movement, so I spread the phones around the room and they got to choose which phones to add.

AND THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN... 19 days left with a LOT of fun days (School Carnival, field day, Kindergarten Luau, and Kindergarten Graduation).

What do you do to keep your sanity and theirs, while making it fun? I would love to hear any suggestions.

Sick Day and SAT 10 Kindergarten

How many of you would rather be at school than home with a sick child? My little one has been sick for the last two days with the stomach bug and I have cleaned EVERYTHING in the house. OMG!! I couldn't take another day of cleaning, so I worked on school stuff :)

Anyways, I have been meaning to get the Math part of my SAT 10 Kindergarten packet together this week. Today was a great day for it. So here it is. Please let me know what you think.

A Peek at SAT 10

I had posted before about this being our first year taking the SAT 10 and how nervous I was. Well after looking for some resources to help my kiddos practice, I decided to come up with my own.

It has been an extremely busy weekend and I only finished the reading part :( .... but I promise to get the math part done this week. I hope this will be of help to many of you. Please leave me a comment as to what you think.

Kindergarten SAT 10

OMG!!! How many of you have to take the SAT 10 (Standford Achievement Test) in Kindergarten? This is our first year and I'm kinda extremely freaking out. I just hope I have prepared my kiddos for everything.

We were given practice books and an outline of what to expect. However, I would still love some more ideas on how to prepare 5 & 6 year olds for a test like this.

I did find this site on Lee County Schools that gave a great break down of Skills for Sat 10.

I also liked Greg Smedley's Test practice page. Click below for his blog link.

If you know of any resources, please send them my way :)
